Funk music originated in the united states during the 1960s. The genres african american musicians fused elements of soul, jazz and r&b into a more rhythmical and danceable form of music. Funk music places much more emphasis on a stronger groove with instruments such as the bass guitar and drums playing a more predominant role in the music.
